Goring
The picturesque village of Goring is on the River Thames in South Oxfordshire and is just a 10-minute drive from the hotel. Goring is also famous for being home to George Michael’s stunning 16th century Oxfordshire abode.
The village is best attributed for the ‘Goring Gap’ which sits within both The Chilterns and North Wessex Downs Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Interestingly, the banks form the border of Oxfordshire and Berkshire, with either side of the bank sitting in each county. Featuring a handful of independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants, Goring-on-Thames is a lovely place to visit for a relaxing stroll. Goring directly faces the village of Streatley across the Thames, and the two villages are connected by Goring and Streatley Bridge and its beautiful lock and weir.
